- Your CV is your “packaging”
Simple, slick and professional is the best look for a standout CV. Always have a professional photo of yourself on your CV or a link to your LinkedIn profile, or even better, a link to an intro video of yourself no longer than a minute and a half. - The devil is in the detail
Make sure you have contact details on your CV, that all spelling and grammar is correct, the font is easy to read and that you don’t have fancy borders, tables or standard resume images. - The long and short of it
There is always a debate around how long one’s CV should be. Don’t add irrelevant information e.g. that you were part of the chess club at school, but there is nothing wrong with listing interests and hobbies.
The detail is really only necessary around education, KPIs, the reason for leaving if the explanation warrants it and achievements. Also, gauge what’s relevant to your particular discipline. - Achievements are your “elevator pitch”
Listing career achievements, accolades, awards or major projects is crucial in presenting a standout CV. This will always get you noticed.
